John and Si Kahn met on a Harlan County picket line on Thanksgiving Day 1973. Neither of them knew then the powerful and productive friendship that began that day. Over fifty years later they’re still plotting new projects and bell-weathering one another for their individual schemes. Whether co-writing five consecutive Grammy-nominated albums, working together to support emerging community leaders, touring across America, or godfathering John’s youngest son, Si has been one of the most prolific and important writers to ever come out of the American South. In his spare
time. In his “retirement” he’s written plays and musicals, including Joe Hill’s Last Will, which featured John’s acting debut.
Join John and…literally!...a dozen or so of Si’s admirers, coworkers, and lovers of his music to celebrate Si Kahn’s 80th Birthday. It’ll be full of memories, wild stories, laughter, and, of course, great music.
